This session outlines how Big Tech is driving the current nuclear energy buildout to power AI, in lockstep with government undermining of nuclear regulation—and explores alternative federal policy to counter this agenda. We break down the tech industry’s interest in nuclear, who the push to fast-track development serves, and myths around small modular reactors (SMRs) and other industry claims of safety and speed. Our organizer and advocate panel shares the impact of expanding and rushed nuclear facilities on everyday people, and strategies to counter this buildout, from Indigenous communities across Turtle Island to Three Mile Island in Pennsylvania and beyond.
